Birthday party today!

Alright, so Keagan's birthday party was today! It was so much fun! His daddy sent him a Harley tricycle, a soccer net with ball, and spongebob bedding. Alan loves his kids, that one thing I know for a fact. I had a few friends over with their children, and we had a great time.

My sister in law came in last night. It was so stormy, I'm not sure how my mother and sister in law made it back from the airport!

I shall be working on my Christmas decorating, and putting pictures in their places the next few weeks. Alrighty, well I'm sorry this is short, but I am so tired, but I will post more tomorrow!

Goodmorning!

So I've got my Starbuck's Christmas blend coffee going. Yum! It's suppose to be a warm day, so hopefully get the kids Christmas pictures done.

I'm in the midst of redecorating my house, and I can not wait until I am finally done. Found the perfect fabric for curtains! I will post a picture soon. I'm going to list some stuff on craigslist so I can make some money to finish my house. Hopefully make some space too. Some furniture, some art, some kids stuff. You know, the stuff that adds up that you don't need. I found the perfect media console, and bookshelves for our living room, now I just need a floor lamp, put up the curtains, frame my paintings, and get some old school photographs of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Elvis, Humphrey Bogart, and Bettie Page. Then I shall be done. Wait, forgot, pillows too :)

That was just the living room. Next is the dining. I just need curtains, and place mats, and maybe an area rug. Oh yeah, and a chain to hang up my son's art work too.

Then we have the dining room. I'm thinking red :) Just little bits here and there. Kind of retro too. Maybe.. what do you guys think?
OK, so we have the spare room. I was considering a black and white quilt, white linen curtains, small black hutch, a nice painting too. Just for a punch of color, a mini rose bush?

My children's room, I want some storage shelves, a dresser, and new bed for my son :) everything else is done in there.

My room, I need new bedding. Get rid of the dresser, put some storage in our closet, paint, then done!
Our bathroom, I want to do a woods kind of thing in there. and just make a very sophisticated look. get a bench for in there, get some chelves for the walls.

Alright those are my ideas for now, if anyone has any suggestions, please post!

Have a great day!

A glimpse into my military life

The day started out pretty normal for me. The day before Halloween 2010. My son had slept pretty good because of our busy day of crafts for a friend's Halloween party, and a day of shopping for daddy's care packages. I wasn't feeling very energetic, so decided I'd rest my 38 week pregnant body for the day. I'd been having Braxton hicks for a long time, so didn't think too much about them. Keagan and I went on with our day, playing, and eating as normal. Later in the evening, I started having pain in my back. I was afraid that if I went to the hospital, I'd just get sent back home, like I had with my previous pregnancy. I decided to take a bath and drink water. I don't know about you, but that is what I was always told to do if I thought there may be a chance I was going into labor. Well, bath didn't help, so I decided to go for a long walk.

Yes, the pain increased. My son fell asleep in his stroller during our walk, so I went over to my friends house who happens to be my neighbor. After a conversation with her, she convinced me to leave my son for the night and go to the hospital. I walked back to my house and packed Keagan's back pack full of clothes and snacks, and went back to her house to drop it off. I tucked him into bed, he was still asleep, and then I was on my way. I drove to the hospital on post, and parked near the emergency room. I didn't want to walk super far to labor and delivery after all. I got there, and checked in, sat in the waiting room. When the nurse came and got me, she took me to an exam room. They hooked me up to all the monitors, and when the dr came to check me, I was already 5cm. Wow, guess I really was in labor! The dr said they were going to admit me. At that moment, I was excited, scared, and sad all at once. I started to tear up because I knew my husband wouldn't be able to be here with me to welcome our new child into this world.
The nurses asked me if I wanted them to help me by going and getting my bag from my car, I told them no, I could go get it. I went out to my car and got my bag that was packed with clothes, a camcorder, and laptop. I stopped in front of the entrance, called a couple people including the Rear D CO, asking him to send a Red Cross message for me. Except for, a few minutes later when I went inside, and got a text saying that Red Cross had informed him that they don't send message for labor, only for emergency or after the child is born!!! Great, now my husband will have no clue that his child is about to be born! Well, here I was, in the hospital, alone. I pulled out my laptop, put up a status on my Facebook, and a message on my husbands page. All my hopes were that he would get online and see that, and be able to talk to me. Instead my husbands friends got online, and saw it, and were doing everything they could to get a hold of him and let him know. With the luck I have, he was still in transit to get where he was suppose to be. I was admitted at 8:30 PM. After hours of sitting there with an iv in my arm, and not being able to rest because I was waiting for that little sound on my laptop to go off letting me know he was online. I was starting to lose hope. Around 1:30 AM I got my Epidural, and around 2:15 AM they broke my water. Well here it was. I was going to birth this child alone, without my husband, but my friends on Facebook were there, and my friends texting me. Well, to my surprise, at 2:30 AM, my husband gets online! Oh thank goodness!  I progressed through my labor, and enjoyed my husband's company. He had borrowed a friends computer that had video, so we got to talk and see each other. He may not have been there physically, but he was there for me mentally, and coaching me through the labor. I am so thankful for technology. He was there for me when my epidural stopped working for about an hour and a half, that I had no idea what was going on. The nurse came in and checked me and I had tears rolling down my face. Needless to say, they came in and fixed the epidural. This was at about 6 AM that it got fixed. 6:30 AM I was announcing to my husband that he had a baby girl. We got to visit as a family until about 7:30 AM. It was so nice to have that technology available to us, so that even with the distance, my husband was still able to be there with me during labor and delivery.

My busy life :)

My son awoke me this morning saying that daddy needs to bring him home a dinosaur, a chicken, and a doggy. Really makes you wonder what goes on in an almost three year olds head when he thinks about a deployment. So incredibly sweet and innocent.

I feel so incredibly blessed to have both of my children through this deployment. They keep me busy and entertained. I'm not sure what my life would be like with out them and my husband, and I know that I'm ok with that. My life is rich in so many ways. my family, my friends, and the few people I share my love with. This thanksgiving, that is what I am thankful for.

Today my children decided to both cry at the same time, so my solution, put daddy's video of him reading 'Green Eggs and Ham'. Magically, they both calmed down, just stared and listened. Made me feel so many emotions at once. One of happiness for them to see and be calmed by him, one of sadness that he couldn't actually be there to hold and comfort them. Many more, but those stood out the most. I've noticed that with the deployment this time, I don't so much feel sorry for myself as I do for my kids and my husband. For him to miss the birth of our daughter, and to miss time with Keagan. I feel so badly for them all, it breaks my heart.

The upside is that we get to take many pictures, do a lot of crafts, and make sure daddy sees it all. I'm still in need of buying my husband a webcam and netbook so the children can see him and talk to him. That will be good.

My contractor finally showed up to do the weather stripping and fix the attic ladder. I'm so happy, hopefully it'll help my electric bill, and now I can climb into the attic without dangling on the bottom piece because it didn't touch the ground! It's only taken about 6 weeks for him to finally get it done!

Today, Keagan had to get caught up on his shots. Poor little man. He has forgotten about them now. I had to butter him up first. So we had a mommy and son date. We went to the commissary, he got cookies, and I got groceries, and my husbands vicks inhalers to send out. Then we went to the px, and got some stocking stuffers, craft stuff, husbands dip, and little decorating things. Next we had lunch and ice cream. Then, the not so good part for him, hospital time :( The hospital on post lets you just walk in for immunizations. Well, as some of you know, I've been meaning to do this for weeks. Literally. Last time I went in, they couldn't find his records, so I went home. Today I went, and after waiting for about an hour and a half, they found them! Then came the shots. Those nurses are fantastic, before I even realize she had done one, she had all three of his shots done, handed Keagan a lollipop, gave him the intranasal flu, then gave him a sticker, and we were on our way. WOW. Now I have his shot records and everything, so next week is CYS registration time. WOOHOO!

When we finally made our way back home, I already had my homemade chicken noodle soup started. The noodles were dry from last night, and the chicken with celery stocks had been boiling all day. I was making a double batch, because one of my friends had been sick, and she has three kids. I thought it would be nice to send a pot her way. Chicken noodle soup does the body good, you know? Well, my husband was online too.  So we talked as I cooked, I felt so bad, he probably wanted some of it too! Kali began crying. So now, here I am, juggling chopping vegetables, talking to Alan, and getting a newborn to calm down. The life of a mom who is married to the army, HAHA.

Finally got the soup done, dressed for the frg meeting, and ready to go. It ended up being good. Got to visit with my friend for a while, and see how big her children are getting. I still can't believe how fast the time goes with kids. They keep you so busy, you hardly notice until you pause to take a look around. One thing I have learned, is to never hope that time passes quickly, because once it goes, you'll never get it back.

Alright well, I will get off of here for now, goodnight!

Today, in a glance

Today was a good day. Rainy, but good. Started off the morning with some spiced pancakes! YUM!

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Pumpkin pie spice
  • OPTIONAL>3 Tablespoons Ground wheat germ with flax and cinnamon (I use some from www.hodgsonmill.com)
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract (I prefer mexican vanilla, yumm)

Mix all you dry ingredients together, then mix your wet ingredients together, create a well in the middle of your dry, and mix all together. then cook on an oiled, medium heat griddle, or pan. Be careful to cook all the way, they do come out a little bit darker because of the seasonings! I used about a 1/4 cup per pancake.
ENJOY!

Also, I FINALLY got my hubby's packages sent out. 5 boxes, carried inside... In the rain! Made me decide I really need an umbrella and rain boots! My son really loved the rain too! Jumping in the puddles and getting his clothes soaked! haha, got to love that amazing, joyful energy! Where does that go? I used to love playing in the rain. Maybe i need to take him out to do that, and see if I can reconnect with it too!

I also got the hubby his Under Armour socks he's been wanting! Thank you U.S. Cavalry! I guess they are great out on patrol when he is gone. Hopefully he'll enjoy!

My peanut butter fudge also got sent out. My husband is a HUGE Reese's fan, so I took leftover Reese's, and made fudge with them (great way to get rid of some leftover Halloween candy!). It actually turned out amazing! Yes, that is surprising, because it was a complete experiment. I've never made fudge before to be honest. It even passed the mother in law test. So that was good.

Got the commissary shopping done! I love the produce they have available. So much better than what's available at the largest competitor. I'm sure you all can guess without me saying it. The big W. I'll leave it at that.

Got home, took a nap with both my babies. I always enjoy that. We had dinner, and then went to my friends for a hot chocolate date. MMMM..

Here's my ADULT Mexican Hot Chocolate
(take out the alcohol for the kid friendly version)
(for regular flavored hot chocolate, omit cinnamon and chili powder)

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 3 1/2 cups milk or milk substitute (I prefer a mix of vanilla hemp, with chocolate almond milk)
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (mexican kind for me)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/8 C per mug of Vanilla or Coffee Flavored Kahlua
  • Marshmallows or Whipped Cream optional

Mix all ingredients in sauce pan (except Kahlua, and preferred topping) and bring to boil.
Have mugs ready with Kahlua in bottom, then top with marshmallows and/or whipped cream!
Great for a chilly or rainy evening!

Well that was my day. I hope you had a great one as well!

Some great stuff! :)

Babysitting, cookies, painting, OH MY!

Today is a busy but relaxed day for me. I've got 3 kids to hang out with (the addition of  my friend's daughter). We are going to begin our cookie making today. We'll see how that turns out! Maybe get the pumpkins cut up so I can get the seeds out to make some pumpkin seed brittle. I also want to get the kids doing some crafts like the hand turkeys, paper chains, and such... Go for a walk and collect some sticks and leaves, fun!

I need to run on post with the kids so I can get tobacco for the Hubby. Or wait till later to go get it? Hmm... Decisions decisions! Yesterday, I did get the Hubby's Xmas emailed out, and today, my friend will be mailing packages for me, woohoo! (you guys know how much I was dreading doing it myself, haha!) Friday, I'll have my Xmas packages ready to go too!

Well I completed my cards! Here's a sneak peak :) I have a lot of different styles, if you are interested in purchasing some of them, send me a comment!

My son will be three in 10 days! Holy moly, where'd the time go? Needless to say, I have to plan a mini get together for him! I'll post pictures of it too!

As much fun as I have posting about my thoughts and everything, I need to get off of here, make the kiddos some breakfast, and start on cookies and fudge!

Have a great day, and I hope all our men overseas have a good evening!

Another day exploring

Well, my son is out to a movie with his 'Meme', so I thought I would post a blog and get on with the day.

I made three paintings this morning. They are in black and white. Not bad for not painting in over a year!
These were all inspired by Bromeliad: My DIY: Dollar Store Abstract Expressionism - DIY style, frugal home design, budget travel

Next, to reclaim so older paintings and make them look better. Then to start my homemade Christmas cards and and tags! I opened a shop on Etsy last night, under the name lilmamacoy. I'll be posting stuff in there soon. I'll have cookies, candies, cards, scrap booking pages, etc. If I start to do well, I may start listing some decoupage art, blankets and other homemade items. Let me know what you guys think when I start posting stuff, or if you have any ideas or tips for things yourself, let me know! All of you military SAHMs know what I mean when I say, I love my children, I love my husband, but I need to feel like I am contributing with more, and also doing things that I love!
Anyhow, my Etsy store is going to be only what I have made, and a limited number. If you want it, you have to buy it when it's in stalk. I don't want to stress myself by constantly doing what people want, so I'm just going to do me, and by my own schedule :)
Today, I've also got to get my husband's x-mas list sent out for people who want to send him something. Although it's rather easy, it's been a task I've been putting off. Same with packages.. I hate going to the post office with kids, but also, it's been over a year since I've sent a care package, I've honestly forgotten what forms I need. So I've traded with one of my good friends, I'll baby sit for her, if she'll make sure I have coffee when she drops her daughter off, and if she will mail my packages. God bless her! She said 'deal'. Now I don't have to worry about it anymore! PHEW! Well, before my break with only a newborn to care for, is over, I'm going to try and get some things done...

List for the day:

Paintings
Make cards and tags
list items on etsy
hang up cool coat rack from Pier One (scored yesterday on sale for 6.88)

Try on new dress from Kohl's (scored yesterday too for only 14.40) It is going to look great with some black panty hose, and my black boots, and pea coat! So excited to wear when it gets a little bit cooler!

Clean my room (if only I got allowance for doing so)
Search online for a dresser for the kids room
Start working on my decoupage project
Figure out what's for dinner tonight
Put away dishes
OH! before I forget again, something that should be at the top of the list HUSBAND's XMAS LIST!

Hope everyone has a great day, and I'm sure I'll be making some more short posts today!

♥ Pizza Pizza ♥

As my blog goes through a metamorphosis, and becomes whatever it shall be, you will see many posts about my interests, and things that make me feel like my own person. Through out my life, I have either been rushed into adulthood, or wanted to act as one. As I stand back and look at the last few years, I seemed to be dimming the lights on who I really was, and instead being a wife, and a mom. Granted, I LOVE being a mother of two, and a wife. Now, as it was very bluntly pointed out to me, this is not who I am, but merely a part of me. I guess you can say I am on a road to self discovery. My life is still young, and I am still growing into who I will be years from now. My motto has been and always will be, live your life without regrets, because at the moment, it is what you truly believed in. Right now, I truly believe in me, my family and my friends. I need to figure out who I am. What I enjoy, not just what my kids, or my husband enjoy, but what makes me happy.

Sorry about the rant...

Ok.. So I love cooking. Anyone who knows me can tell you. I am constantly posting something on fb about food. I mean how could I not? My family has been in the food industry for YEARS. I have a cookbook that has been in my family for ages, and passed down forever as well.

Tonight, I made pizza. From scratch. Pizza makes me happy. Cooking for others makes me happy. I do not know my measurements for sure, but this is my estimate.. but my crust directions are as follows...

makes 1 xl pizza crust, or 2 mediums

1 Packet of yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water
3 cups of flour (plus extra to roll out dough)
2 tbs olive oil
3 tbs sugar
1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning (I prefer fresh ground)
2 TBS ground flax

Ok, so you have to put the yeast and warm water in a bowl with sugar and mix, let sit about 10 min...
Meanwhile, mix olive oil, Italian seasoning, and flax in bowl..
Next poor yeast mixture in bowl with olive oil mix.
Now, add flour slowly until it forms a ball of dough.
Next, cover with plastic wrap loosely by just setting it down in the bowl on top of the dough. Let sit for 1 hour in a warm dark place.
After one hour is up, punch dough down. Preheat oven to 350.
Now take it and roll in out on a floured surface. I prefer to use my hands for a thicker dough. Now, you make it the shape and thickness you prefer.
Next, when it is on your pan, you can leave it like this
BUT I always put olive oil on top, just enough to very thinly coat the surface, and then I take minced garlic, and rub it around on top with the olive oil..
Bake for 5 minutes, pull out and top as you please.

One of my favorite ways to top is tomato sauce, then mozzarella, Philly steak meat (already cooked), Artichoke hearts, and JalapeƱos! YUMMY!!!

Well, wish you well, and I will post pictures of pizza later!
Goodnight all!

This is super neat!

Ok, so it's holiday season! I'm super excited. I didn't get to participate in holiday things when I was younger, like the rest of the kids did, so of course, I overly do it now! I saw this post and thought it was awesome, so I thought I'd share. I will be doing daily posts still, but I'm also going to start throwing in things that make me want to take action, make want to do more. I hope to inspire the rest of you as well.

wonderfully busy day..

Today my head has been filled with thoughts of creativity. I'm still buzzing from my readings into other people's blogs! Oh my goodness, how do these people come up with this stuff? Really? I wish that I could come up with this stuff! Maybe someday... Anyhow... I am super inspired to make my own home decor, because my house is in DESPERATE need of decor! I love people ideas for decorations! it's truly incredible to me. So my ideas as of now are a mirror collage on the wall, maybe a sunburst type of mirror, my own paintings, curtains, pillows, sanding and painting my living room furniture, re-doing my lamps, using scrap paper to do a wall mosaic, and then to figure out what to do with the glass in the table tops.... my back door i would LOVE to do the fake stained glass sheets... Oh i also forgot the hanging baskets for my bathroom!

Wow, see, this is what has been filling my head....

That and the cookies and candies to make for my husband's Christmas care packages... I'm thinking fudge, and pumpkin seed brittle... Cookies like snicker-doodles, macaroons, s'mores... any ideas anyone? Please let me know!

That also goes for home decor stuff too!

So I'm also considering making decoupage art. I had a dream about making this amazing lips decoupage art... Oh the ideas!

If you have any cool ideas for decor, or any recipes that you'd like to share, let me know!

I'm off of here for now, goodnight world!

What a day

So welcome into my life. It is hectic at times, my toddler is rowdy, my newborn is quiet, my husband is deployed, and I constantly have a million things running through my head. My name is Coyeatta.

I enjoy spending time with my children, and my husband. My son is close to three, and as obnoxious as his father. We enjoy doing different crafts together, and learning new things. He helps me in the kitchen whenever he possibly can, and I love it! He also loves to be outside, which makes me happy :) Hopefully we can start camping with him when daddy gets home.

My daughter is a newborn, and she likes to sleep, eat, and well, poop! She seems to like the outdoors so far, or at least is comfortable enough to eat and sleep.

My husband is my hero, and we began young and foolish, but head over heels in love. I was 18 and he was 19. A month into it, we decided we should get married. So far we have gone through just about every test a relationship can go through, and we have persevered. I could not ask for a better man, best friend, or father for my children. He is my hero, and has helped me stay sane in a lot of situations. I can truly say I am honored to be married to him, and so happy that we've stuck it out and kept going strong.

As an Army wife, I can tell you, it's not easy. Deployments are long, but you learn a lot about yourself and your strengths. When they are home, doing field trainings can seem like forever as well. You start to think every civilian could never understand every trial you go through.

There is so much to ramble on about, but I will just add more in later blogs, so you'll have to follow to learn more about my pretty average army wife life.

Today I made some lunch from leftovers.. It was pretty good actually. I experiment all of the time, and sometimes with not so good results, but most of the time they are good :) of course, my husband would never know the bad meals, because they get thrown out before he knows it!

Today though, as I was saying, I took some leftover pork roast, left over rice, some frozen edamame, some cooked carrots, and leftover chopped pineapple, threw it in the pan, added some rice vinegar, sesame oil, paprika, cumin, chilli powder, teriyaki sauce, and soy sauce... all to taste, which was very little of each, just enough for flavor, and it turned out AMAZING. Yep. Well that is about it for now, I've got to get my little guy to take a nap. Tomorrow I will write about care packages, and maybe some more food experiments :)

Have a great Veteran's day, and thank you to all the Military and their families!
